Offensive Grade: A-

Josh Allen leads an slightly upgraded offence into the comfortable setting of the new SMART stadium that is the $2 billion dollar fortress, known as (the new) Highmark Stadium. Acquiring receiver DJ Moore presents a serious threat to opposing defenses, and the indication from camp is that the QB1 and his new wideout are reading each other exceptionally well. On Defense, there are some notable omissions on this year's roster. Matt Milano, Taron Johnson, Tre'Davious White, Jordan Poyer, Taylor Rapp, and Joey Bosa are all out, leaving some concern in terms of where the Bills were to fill the needs left from so many departures. The addition Bradley Chubb at linebacker, gives Buffalo an all-pro presence as a pass rusher. At edge will be T.J. Parker, who has emerged from camp as a potential starter. CJ Gardner-Johnson, and Dee Alford will man the secondary, as Maxwell Hairston continues to be sidelined due to a lingering groin injury. New Defensive Coordinator Jim Leonard brings a new system of defense with the 3-4, where the linebackers can bring flexibility with pass rushing and dropping back into coverage.

The bet: The latest widely reported numbers have Buffalo tied with Baltimore as the AFC's co-favorite at +500, while the Super Bowl still remains somewhat of a longshot. This makes sense, as emerging from the AFC playoffs is a brutal task. The past couple of seasons has revealed that the road to the Super Bowl is exceptionally hard in the AFC, with razor thin margins in virtually every round. Buffalo is, deservedly so, one of the two, or three most likely teams to win the AFC, but it might come down to whether or not this new defensive unit will operate according to plan. Look for Allen to have a career year in the new stadium, but it will be the defense, and Buffalo's lack of depth on that side of the ball, that could determine whether the Bills once again merely make the playoffs, or they finally win the AFC.
