How we report, verify, and publish.
The Cover is a news publication covering sports and sports betting analysis. Every article on this site is written by a named human editor, reviewed for accuracy, and held to the standards below. Errors we make are corrected publicly — see our Corrections policy.
Ownership + independence
The Cover is operated by D6SC LLC, an independent media company. We are not owned by, subsidized by, or editorially controlled by any sportsbook operator, sports league, team, or franchise. Editorial decisions — what to cover, who to interview, what angle to take — are made by the editorial team without input from advertisers or affiliate partners.
Named human bylines only
Every article carries a byline that identifies the human writer. Writer profiles are public at thecover.bet/authors and include career background, sport specialties, and social credentials. We do not use ghost writers. We do not attribute AI-generated content to human bylines. See the AI disclosure section below for the exact policy on tool use.
Sourcing
Statistical claims (hit rates, streak lengths, sample sizes, season averages) are sourced from ESPN, Baseball-Reference, Pro-Football-Reference, Basketball-Reference, Hockey-Reference, the leagues' own statistics APIs, and DataStreak's analytics platform. Sportsbook line data is aggregated from the operators we cover (see "Sportsbook coverage" below).
When we cite injury news, roster moves, or breaking developments, we attribute the primary source (ESPN, the Athletic, team beat reporters, official team announcements) inline. We do not present other outlets' reporting as our own.
Fact-checking + editorial review
Every article passes through at least one editorial reviewer before publish. Statistical claims are cross-referenced against the sources named above. Predictions and analysis are opinion — but every underlying fact is verifiable. If we make a factual error, we fix it publicly under the Corrections log.
Sportsbook coverage
We cover live odds and prop markets from every legally-operating US sportsbook: DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, ESPN BET, BetRivers, Bovada, Pinnacle, and Fanatics. When a sportsbook partners with us commercially — meaning they pay a bounty for new sign-ups or an operator-specific placement — the partnership is disclosed inline in the article, in the About page, and via the `sponsored` relationship attribute on the outbound link. We never adjust our editorial coverage in response to a commercial relationship.
DataStreak partnership + affiliate disclosure
DataStreak is our data partner and our primary affiliate. Every article on this site is powered by DataStreak's prop-scoring algorithm. Links to DataStreak.com carry the affiliate parameter ?ref=0FF8FJHX and are marked as sponsored via the rel="sponsored" HTML attribute. When a reader signs up for DataStreak from a link on our site, we earn a referral. This relationship is disclosed in the About page, at the top of every DataStreak CTA card in articles, and in every newsletter footer.
Sponsored content
The Cover does not accept sponsored content in the editorial stream. We have never published, and will not publish, articles that appear as editorial but were paid for by a sportsbook, team, league, or third party. If we ever change this policy, the change and the disclosure format will be posted at the top of the Editorial Standards page 30 days before the first sponsored article runs.
AI disclosure
The Cover uses AI tools for internal research assistance (statistical cross-checking, Spanish translation of English articles, and structural draft outlines). Every published sentence is written or rewritten by a human editor. Articles are not attributed to AI-generated bylines. If an article is a translation of an existing English article, the translation is noted with a link to the source article in the header.
Our AI-generated draft pipeline, which existed internally to auto-draft game previews, has been disabled since 2026-09-02 and no articles from that pipeline are live on the site.
Corrections
When we make a factual error, we correct the article inline and note the correction with a timestamp and description at the top of the piece. Significant corrections (material change to a claim, retraction of a prediction rationale) are also logged at thecover.bet/corrections. Readers can submit correction requests to [email protected]; we respond within 48 hours.
Advertising + affiliate practices
We do not run display advertising. Every commercial link on the site is either (a) an affiliate link to DataStreak or a sportsbook operator, disclosed as sponsored via the HTML rel attribute, or (b) a partnership placement disclosed inline. We do not accept payment to influence article rankings, headlines, or coverage priorities.
Diversity + inclusion
The Cover's editorial team is composed of writers from a range of backgrounds and geographies. We actively translate a subset of our English articles to Spanish (marked as es-419 and es-MX hreflang) to serve the LatAm sports audience. Comment moderation on our site and on partner communities (r/TheCoverBet) enforces zero tolerance for harassment, slurs, or content targeting readers based on race, gender, sexuality, or nationality.
Reader contact + editorial feedback
The best way to reach the editorial team is [email protected]. Corrections requests should go to [email protected]. General inquiries via the Contact page. Writer-specific messages can be sent via the social links on each writer's Author page.
