Free Picks FAQ

Are these picks really free?

Yes. Every pick on this page is free, every day. No paywall, no signup, no hidden tier. We don't charge for picks — DataStreak's algorithm runs the analysis and we surface it. The site makes money via affiliate links to DataStreak's own platform, not by gating content.

What sports do you cover with free picks?

Free MLB picks, free NBA picks, free NHL picks, free WNBA picks, free NFL picks, free NCAAB picks, and free NCAAF picks — every league DataStreak covers, in season. The mix on any given day depends on which leagues are playing.

How are the free picks chosen?

DataStreak's in-house algorithm scores every player prop across 6 data pillars: streaks, splits, defensive matchups, head-to-head history, lineup changes, and fatigue. Picks that pass the quality bar (8+ game streak, 75%+ historical hit rate over 20 games, line at -300 or better) make today's list — capped at 10 with diversity across sports.

When are today's free picks updated?

8:00 AM ET for the initial slate, 4:00 PM ET for an injury-driven refresh. Picks where a player has been ruled OUT after the morning publish get swapped automatically. Push subscribers and email newsletter subscribers get a notification when picks drop.

How is The Cover different from Covers, ATS, or pay sites?

Three things. (1) Free, full stop — no signup, no tier, no metered article limit. (2) Picks are algorithmic, not opinion columns; you can verify the math behind every play via the linked DataStreak breakdown. (3) Modern UX: PWA install, push notifications, comments, mobile-first.

Do I have to make an account to read picks?

No. Reading is anonymous. An account is only needed if you want to comment on a pick, save articles, or tail picks (mark which ones you're following). All optional and free.
