The UFC has done an excellent job of promoting the event that is set to begin with the preliminary card at 6pm EST at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood California. There are several names from former UFC feature, and blockbuster PPV events, such as Francis Ngannou, Junior Dos Santos, and Nate Diaz. Each of these prominent stars of the sport of MMA will be added to the main card, with betting now open across all available platforms. The main event is expected to begin at 11:30.
Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano — a true legend vs. legend showdown. Rousey brings the elite grappling and trademark armbar threat, while Carano’s path to victory depends on keeping the fight standing and using her Muay Thai striking advantage. Long layoffs for both could mean cardio and timing become factors late, but expect Rousey to pressure early, close the distance, and hunt takedowns from the opening bell. Carano’s athleticism and defense may keep her competitive briefly, but the grappling edge is hard to ignore.
It's so difficult to predict the winner of such an interesting and highly-touted bout as this. We'll go out on a limb (no pun intended), and take Rousey with an armbar submission early in round two. If it goes beyond that, then Carano's conditioning and striking should prevail.
